John Galloway
Founder
John Galloway started the company 40NORTH 19 years ago, he leads the creative direction for the business, and is involved in every project that leaves the office at some point - especially at the beginning and end of each project. In nearly 30 years of designing luxury resort hospitality projects, John has collaborated with many talented others to create some of the most sought after luxury hospitality experiences on the planet.
John has lead design teams in the MENA Region (Middle East North Africa) including the counties of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He runs the company from a 30 acre working farm located north of Kansas City, Missouri in the Midwest of the United States of America. Like four generations of cattle ranchers before him, he considers the high plains of western Kansas his home, and returns there with his family to reconnect to the windy wilderness of his youth.
Devin Murphy
Chief of Design
Devin started working for 40NORTH in the summer of 2014, after graduating with a degree in architecture from Kansas State University. His unique background and intimate knowledge of a vast array of modeling software has enabled the company to interface with architectural practices around the world that require full BIM capabilities from day 1.
Devin was one of primary designers and project managers on Atlantis The Royal, and 8-year process with KPF and other stakeholders to deliver one of the most iconic resort landscapes in the world. Regular travels to the UAE to ensure the execution of our design in the smallest of details was a career highlight for Devin.
Increasingly, the project modeling occurs into our documentation at every level from concept to construction documentation. Outside of work he has an interest in travel, music, skiing, and the being in the outdoors. Devin grew up in eastern Colorado in the United States.
Jared Buffington
Chief of Operations
Jared Buffington is one of the core people at 40NORTH, coordinating many of the disciplines that we collaborate with. He started working at 40NORTH in January 2018. Jared has 11 years of experience in the profession and has worked on projects in the Midwest US and on our projects in Dubai and Riyadh the past couple of years.
In January 2022 he was promoted to Chief of Project Operations at the company and handle project management and technical design on several key projects in the office.
He uses his excellent graphic abilities to convey his design ideas to clients and other design practices we work with. Jared is from the town of Mexico, in central Missouri in the United States. He is a family man, and outside of work his passions include skiing, rock climbing, and home repairs. Jared is a licensed landscape architect with 10 years in the profession.
